Anyone can have the strength, stamina, focus and flow of a Shaolin Monk. The key is to follow a correct authentic program, keep training and stay consistent. This takes faith in your training. If you don’t have faith, find out why, ask questions, don’t follow blindly but once you do have faith, stick with it.
Here’s how it works. You want to study Shaolin because…. you want to be a martial artist/ you want to improve your health and fitness / increase your longevity/ you want to learn body conditioning for your fights / you're a professional martial artist wanting to deepen your skill.
I am here to guide you through the process. I deliver on my promise to teach you authentic Shaolin. I don’t teach weapons or acrobatics or complex forms because they’re not useful for health or fighting. There’s nothing wrong with learning those things but my focus is on gaining health and fitness through Shaolin. Our time is limited and I believe in focusing on what’s really important for your mind and body.
When I studied at the Shaolin Temple, China was closed and I had no access to other forms of exercise or martial arts. There wasn’t an internet and access to teachings wasn’t as accessible as it is now. This is an amazing opportunity that has never existed before. So what will you make of the opportunity?
There is a lot of misinformation and I want to help you gain access to authentic Shaolin teachings and understand what works for your mind and body. For example, many students only want to do kung fu or only want to do Qigong but to study authentic Shaolin, you must practice both.
Many of my online students have been training with me since I made my first DVD in 2005. I offer different programs so they never hit a dangerous plateau. Doing the same thing and not changing what you do means your workout will not have the benefit it did once you first began. This is true for any workout, not just martial arts.
Over the next five weeks, I’m going to write a series off personalised Shaolin Programs that is the right fit for you. If you've already started a program, I will show you what your next step is so you continue to evolve in your training. I’ll also write about how to overcome Shaolin plateaus and how to zenify your lifestyle and diet so that you have a clear plan to work with.
The program will require you to:
- Work hard
- Be consistent
- Eat well
- Be dedicated to your goal
These four qualities are the secret of successful Shaolin training. I believe they are also the secret to a successful life.
If you can’t do those things right now that's not a problem, put your Shaolin program to one side and come back to it when you’re ready but continue to do the 5 minutes exercises from my free Zen book or a few exercises from the Qigong Workout.
